When training a puppy, Stay needs a lot of practice.
A puppy can be trained to stay whether it is sitting or lying down. Repeated practice is essential. Simply say, Stay and then walk away, acting shocked if the puppy gets up to follow. Then you take the puppy back and repeat the practice.
When it does stay for even a few moments, be sure to praise the puppy heartily. You can lengthen the time gradually. This obedience command can be perfected while doing your work at home and it need not take up too much time once the puppy understands, Stay.
Heel, is used when you want to train the puppy to walk on a leash with no attempt to pull free. Practice makes perfect with this training as well. You should teach it a signal to use when it wants to go outside.
The correct bark for Speak means the puppy will let you know, if you are not at the door to see him when the puppy wants outside. To control the enthusiasm of the puppy while not jumping up on others, you will train him to Sit.
You will also train the puppy to not bark or run towards anyone, no matter who they are until you give the command. Do not permit the puppy to get up on furniture unless it has a designated chair.
A puppy should not beg at the table for food, although in most cases, this is training for the family rather than the dog.
Take care that your puppy is no permitted to roam the neighborhood alone to make a nuisance for your neighbors. No dog should leave your property without a leash. Keep in mind that everything you do or not to train it to do will be an aid at some point or another.
For instance, if the leash breaks or the dog gets loose with no collar, it may save the live of the puppy to obey your spoken commands.
